“Every couple comes to Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings with a different vision. We want couples to know there are no limitations—it doesn’t have to fit into any structure. It can be 100 percent anything they imagine.”
Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings: Nature-Driven Wedding Planning and Photography
If the thought of a ballroom wedding makes you restless, and you’d rather be standing on a ledge of a heart-stopping overlook, then keep reading—because what Becca and Hanna of Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings create is anything but ordinary. These two are pros at taking a couple’s adventurous vision and creating wedding masterpieces in Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, and Colorado. No two weddings are even remotely alike.
Becca and Hanna created Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings to combine photography, planning and adventure. “We’re not just wedding planners and photographers—we’re explorers too,” Becca shares. “Nature is our home, and we want to create weddings that reflect that connection.”
What They Do
Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings takes their clients to into some pretty extraordinary parts of the Blue Ridge, Smokeys, and Rockies. “Every wedding we plan is tailored to the couple’s vision,” Becca explains. “We listen, we plan, and we guide them to locations that fit their dreams.”
Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings work covers select regions in Western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, and Colorado. “We know these areas like the back of our hands,” Becca says. “We run by season, generally. So we try to book NC for the spring and fall, and we spend July and August in Colorado for peak season. It’s gorgeous in NC on the ends and CO in the center.” According to them, it seems to work out perfectly for everyone.
A key part of the Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings process is tailoring vendor recommendations. “I’ve worked hard to create a network of trusted vendors,” Becca shares. “If I’m recommending someone, it’s because I’ve met them and trust their work. I’ll even visit new locations personally to make sure everything feels right.”
Their packages range from single-day celebrations to multi-day events, which, for example, could involve a ceremony and reception on one day to be followed with an adventure photography session the next. “Every couple comes to us with a different vision,” Becca adds. “We make sure they know there are no limitations—it doesn’t have to fit into any structure. It can be 100 percent anything they envision.”
Becca also became ordained and enjoys the role. “I wasn’t really sure when we started how it was going to work with officiants who wanted to go out into the woods. So I became ordained so I can do it,” she explains.
Their personalized approach really does extend to every detail; they break down the planning process with questionnaires and personalized timelines so every moment is in alignment. “The planning process is so much about just listening,” Becca says. “We want to know what matters most to them and make it happen.”
Another element that sets Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings apart is how they balance planning and photography as a team. “Even though I’m the organized planner, and Hanna’s the creative photography, we can swap those roles behind the scenes. We both balance each other in every sense,” Becca shares. “It’s all about making things flow and ensuring every couple feels cared for.”

The History Behind Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings
Becca and Hanna met as dance majors at UNC Greensboro, which happens to be one of the top dance programs in the country. “We became such close friends there,” Becca recalls. “Hanna was always the one to fuel my adventurous side.” Their friendship grew even stronger during their junior year, when both studied abroad—Becca in New Zealand and Hanna in Cape Town, South Africa. This is where they began to develop their curiosity and love for exploring the unknown.
After college they went in their own direction—Hanna to Brooklyn and Becca to West Virginia—but they stayed close in touch. “We found ourselves really reconnecting in the Roan Highlands on the Appalachian Trail on a January day when it was freezing,” Becca says. “The whole trail was a sheet of ice, but the views were incredible, and we basically planted the seeds for our future together.”
It wasn’t until Hanna moved back to North Carolina during the pandemic that the idea of starting a business together began to really take root. Like so many others who lost their work at the time, Becca had lost her role as a performance art event planner. At the same time Hanna transitioned into dance photography. “In March 2021, we went on our first true backpacking trip back and started it once again in that same Roan Highlands area we met up before,” Becca says. “We woke up one morning before sunrise to watch the sun come up and shine on our tent through the open flap. This was the inspiration – I couldn’t get the thought of building something together from this out of my head.”
The following months were transformative. Becca decided to hike the entire Appalachian Trail in “flip-flop” fashion (when hikers complete the trail in two different sections instead of a one way trip, usually to take advantave of the differing weather). All told – she completed it all in just over five and a half months. “One of my main goals on the AT was to figure out where I wanted to go career-wise,” she explains. “I knew I didn’t want to pursue dance anymore, but planning felt right.”
Around the same time, Hanna was planning her own small wedding with her now husband. “Her biggest priority was to have a relaxed day with her people and amazing photography,” Becca shares. “She realized there weren’t many photographers focusing on elopements and micro weddings, which got us brainstorming again.” They wanted to address a gap. “There just weren’t enough people focusing on these smaller affairs,” Becca explains. “Why shouldn’t people wanting smaller celebrations have access to the same level of service and care as those planning large, traditional weddings?”
By February, 2024, they had officially launched Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings after a year’s worth of planning. The name, “Trail Magic,” was inspired by Becca’s time on the AT, where she was the recipient of this trail magic firsthand—they’re unexpected acts of kindness from strangers who help hikers at random spots along the trail. “Like someone setting up a grill and give out grilled cheese, hot dogs and other food and snacks – or even offering a ride into town where you could pick up more supplies,” Becca explains. “It’s those small, generous moments that make a huge impact. That’s what we want our weddings to feel like—completely taken care of and full of joy.”
“We both needed a name that captured what we offer and what couples want for their day,” Becca adds. “When Hanna suggested Trail Magic, it just clicked. It embodies everything we want our weddings to be: stress-free, intentional, and full of meaningful support.” From their shared love of nature and creativity, Trail Magic was born to serve couples who value intimacy, intentionality, and the beauty of the outdoors.
Pricing and Packages
Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings custom prepares packages for each couple. Pricing reflects the level of service and attention to detail they provide. “We start at $4,000, and the average package is around $4,800,” Becca shares. “When we started, we offered photo-only packages, but we moved away from that because we work so well together as a team. There’s so much benefit to having us both present.”
Their process begins with finding the perfect location. “Once we have that set, we coordinate with vendors,” Becca says. “I’ve worked hard to build a network of trusted vendors I can personally vouch for, so couples feel confident in every recommendation.”
Flexibility is key in their offerings. “Every couple comes with a different vision,” Becca adds. “We want them to know there are no limitations—it doesn’t have to fit into any structure. It can be 100 percent anything they imagine.”
Why Couples Love Trail Magic
Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings isn’t just about planning weddings—it’s about crafting experiences that feel natural and stress-free. “We handle the details so our couples can just enjoy their day,” Hanna shares. Clients rave about how easy the process feels, from selecting the perfect location to coordinating with local vendors.
“We want couples to know their wedding can be anything they want,” Becca says. “It doesn’t have to fit a mold.” Whether it’s a simple elopement in a quiet forest or a multi-day celebration with friends and family, Trail Magic ensures it’s all about the couple.
What sets Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings apart? Hanna and Becca’s ability to combine creativity with practical planning. “We love when couples trust us to think outside the box,” Becca says. “It’s where we shine.”
A Shared Spirit of Adventure
Weddings Over Waterfalls and Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings have spirits that perfectly mesh and align. Ken, the owner of Weddings Over Waterfalls, spent 10 years of his life backpacking and exploring the world one month out of each year, including one longer tour through South America for 15 months. (see Ken’s Travel Blog). Ken rarely, if ever travels with an itinerary—he simply sets out to explore and to be guided by intuition. This open spirit led him to some of the most magnificently beautiful adventures, discovered through books, online resources, and of course, word of mouth suggestions made by fellow backpackers.
This is the same venturesome and open-minded spirit that Becca and Hanna bring to their business. Ken has a hunch his National Geographic-like wedding space, immersed privately in nature can be used as a home base during a couple’s wedding journey with Trail Magic Elopements & Micro Weddings.
