Owner, Ken Greenwood
In 2014, I traded the hustle of New York City for the tranquility of Asheville’s mountains, initially unaware that my journey would lead to creating Windows Over Waterfalls. After stumbling upon a piece of raw land in the Blue Ridge Mountains in 2018, I saw potential despite its challenges. With determination and vision, I transformed the property into a breathtaking venue, centered around stunning waterfalls. This labor of love has evolved beyond mere event hosting; it’s a personal narrative woven into the landscape, where nature and love intertwine seamlessly. Windows Over Waterfalls offers a picturesque setting for matrimonial celebrations, complete with terraces, flower beds, hiking trails, and an adventurous spirit, ensuring unforgettable memories amidst nature’s embrace.
From the bustling streets of New York to the serene embrace of Asheville’s mountains, Windows Over Waterfalls stands as a testament to dedication and vision. Each step of this transformative journey has been guided by a passion to create a space where love and nature harmonize. As you embark on your journey at Windows Over Waterfalls, may the echoes of love and joy amidst the waterfalls become lasting memories, forever etched in your hearts.

“There were “wow” moments everywhere!” Ken said. “The end result of each project was more spectacular than the previous. What I was exposing were natural masterpieces and each one, individually, provided me with a profound sense of joy and pride. During the entirety of Covid, I essentially said to heck with my desk job I’m getting wet and muddy.”
Ken regularly found himself covered in dirt and poison ivy and plagued with exhaustion, but he kept going. He thinned pure forest areas and replaced them with grass and native wildflowers. He lost his balance and rolled down hills, many of which were greater than 60-70 degrees at times. He removed and moved boulder after boulder and rock after rock with his bare hands. He transplanted moss from deep in the forest to create long paths above the house for his guests to enjoy walks barefoot. He even felled giant trees with chainsaws he learned to operate. And he did it all by himself.
Everyone thought I was mad, but I felt that every feature I discovered was one I could enjoy for the

“Just think about it. These rocks and boulders have been covered over for millions of years and now they’re visible. They are part of something that can be enjoyed by us from this day forward. Imagine the memories that will be made here.”

“This spot… the house and property as a whole, possesses what I have always searched for,” he concluded. “I have such a powerful sense of pride over what I have done. Nothing seems to matter when you’re here. It’s just you and nature — and not a soul within eyesight or earshot. It’s total seclusion and submersion.”

From Forest to Fairytale
A Journey of Unwavering Passion and Perpetual Progress!
Our commitment to creating an extraordinary environment for our guests is unwavering. Before we even opened our doors on Valentine’s Day, 2021, we spent two years in the trenches – quite literally! Armed with nothing more than a chainsaw, weedwacker, and shovels, we hand-cleared the entire property, including the part of the forest just above the wedding platform. Inch by inch, we removed weeds and bramble, tackling the root balls like seasoned warriors, turning the soil over, and planting the seeds of our vision. Notably, we uncovered 80 percent of the boulders you see today that were previously covered with too many years to count of overgrowth.

Journey Through the Years
Experience the evolution of our sanctuary, from its humble beginnings to its breathtaking present, year by year.
Beginning of our Journey
Just before our first year in business, we cleared the forest behind the house to a dark brown canvass, and carved out a picturesque pathway on the house side, leading all the way to the top of the property, and began the artful process of propagating moss.
Seeing some progress
The second year saw the birth of lush greenery as we dug out pathways on the opposite side and planted a carpet of grass.
One Step closer to our goal
Year three was a transformational chapter as we meticulously cleared and created an enchanting space between the newly created moss pathway and the flowing creek. This area became a canvas for our creativity as we surrounded it with elegant border stones and cultivated moss wherever nature allowed.
We are getting there
As we entered our fourth year, we decided to take it to new heights – literally! A maze of trails now rises above the house, offering breathtaking views from top to bottom of the property.
Commitment to get it done
Our commitment extends beyond the trails and greenery. We’ve terraced the property, adding layers of beauty, and planted a riot of perennial flowers and wildflowers that now grace the creek from its upper reaches to the very bottom. It’s an ongoing labor of love, an effort to rival the grandeur of the Biltmore Estate itself, and we assure you – we won’t ever quit.
Each year is a new chapter in the story of our property, and we’re thrilled to have you join us on this magical journey. These beautifully crafted testimonials are not just accolades; they are affirmations that we are on the right path. They inspire us to keep pushing boundaries, to keep innovating, and to keep delivering experiences that leave our guests spellbound. So, take a moment to read the tales of delight shared by those who have walked our trails and enjoyed our sanctuary. We can’t wait to add your story to this collection of joyous moments!
