“I’m a hopeless romantic,” Rebecca Paul says with a laugh. “My grandparents just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary—they’ve been my inspiration of love. They’ve been all over the globe together, still in love after all that time. That’s the kind of story that makes me want to help couples start their own adventures.”
DreamWoven Destinations: Honeymoon and Destination Wedding Planning in Asheville, NC
Rebecca is the owner and brainchild of DreamWoven Destinations, LLC — she plans honeymoons, destination weddings, and creative celebrations for couples no matter their age, interests and lifestyles. DreamWoven grew out of her immeasurable passion for travel and a purely natural instinct for helping people. “Friends and family have always asked me for advice about where to travel, and so I’ve planned their trips all over the world. They’d come back with stories, pictures, the biggest thank-you’s… and at some point people started saying, why aren’t you doing this for a living?”
From Social Work to Love Stories
Rebecca, for the last 25 years, as per the writing of this piece, has been a social worker right here in Asheville, North Carolina. “I’ve worked with the elderly in nursing homes, been a case manager, and even as a Guardian. It’s been so fulfilling to help people become independent and find their place in the community,” she explains. “But let’s face it – it’s also a really difficult job—there’s so much sadness and heartbreak, especially when resources aren’t there.”
This crossover to joyous planning has made her new path extraordinarily exciting. “On the flip side, helping couples plan honeymoons or anniversaries is pure joy. It’s happy. After a lifetime of the same stories and dead ends, this is about following love stories and building dream experiences. It’s a chance to give people something they’ll remember forever.”
Where the Inspiration Began
Her love for travel, and researching the most special destinations, is palpable by speaking with Rebecca. “I’ve been all over the United States, from coast to coast, and into Canada and Mexico. One of my favorite places of all time is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The sunsets over Lake Superior are unlike anything else. I was there for my daughter’s birthday last spring, and sitting by the water I thought, I love this. I want to share this feeling with everyone.”
While she hasn’t crossed the Atlantic yet, Europe is next on her list. “I just planned a trip through Spain and other parts of Europe for a friend where I booked tours for her along the way. She was so grateful she insisted I come with her. That’s the kind of joy this brings—seeing people light up when their dreams become real.”
How DreamWoven Destinations Helps Plan Honeymoons and Destination Weddings
Rebecca’s approach is personal and not cookie-cutter like most of us fear. “I take everything a couple says into account. We have long conversations—they share their wants and needs, even when they like to go to sleep, when they eat, how active they want to be. Their passions just come through during our conversations, and I listen. It’s like putting puzzle pieces together to create the best adventure of their lives.”
The logistics? “I work with a host agency that contracts with travel suppliers worldwide—cruise ships, hotels, tours, you name it. The suppliers pay me so couples don’t pay a dime for using me. I’m not beholden to any of them – I just steer them in the right direction based on what they tell me. And the training is constant—I’m always educating myself on destinations, what to do, how to get there.
Building a Community Connection in Asheville
Rebecca already has so many ties to Asheville’s wedding world. “My husband owns Off the Wagon Dueling Piano Bar on North Market Street. Engaged couples and bachelorette parties come in all the time, so the idea of honeymoons just fit. They’re planning the parties before the wedding—so why not the adventure after, too? Venues send their wedding parties to us all the time, so I already feel part of the community.”
While DreamWoven is still new, the word is spreading. “I’ve got quite a few clients already. Right now I’m working with one couple who’s taking 50 of their family members on a cruise to Honduras where they’re going to say their vows. Another client’s celebrating their 20th anniversary with a cruise to Mexico. I’m also planning a 70th birthday party on a beach for a woman and her husband. People come to me because they don’t want to spend hours searching—and I do it for them – I love it. All they have to do is pack their bags.”
